Gratitude and love

Taetske explains how connecting with the present moment, which accepts us exactly as we are, can help us to view life from the heart - with gratitude and without judgment.

The acceptance of the moment

Life is love. It does not judge. It accepts you totally as you are. Love is this acceptance. As you sit, go with your awareness to the breath. Becoming aware of the body through the breath. And then expand your awareness through the breath and the body to the moment. Feel the cushion under your sit bones. The mat under your legs. The space around your body. The air that surrounds you and that you breathe in. It nourishes you, heals you, regenerates your cells and brings you life. See if you can open up to the fact that this moment accepts you fully as you are. It is not judging you. And that basically, you are that.

Judgments have no reality

We all know that we judge. We have our preferences, things we like and dislike. Our minds are built that way: to judge. But these judgments have no reality. They are thoughts. Reflections upon reality as images in a mirror. A judging mirror, dividing the world into what to like and not like. What to love and not love. Thus creating fear and desire, the physical expression of like and dislike. Creating the whole spectrum of emotions.

The moment pure love goes through the prism of the judging mind, it breaks into like and dislike. We start ‘loving’ certain people, certain things. And we experience how that can easily turn into its opposite; into fear, resentment and even hate. And then we ask ourselves ‘why’? Because deep inside we know that love has no opposite. It is just love. So we have to remember that just as all colours are a variation of light, all emotions are a variation of love. A variation of acceptance.

Deep inside we know that love has no opposite. It is just love. So we have to remember that just as all colours are a variation of light, all emotions are a variation of love. A variation of acceptance.

Expressing gratitude can bring you there. When you just name something, and look at it with the heart, you will see that it is contributing something. It has a function, maybe even many functions, that you can be grateful for. Opening yourself up to this is opening yourself up to the dance of life, where everything is included. Especially when you name things that you tend to dislike.

What can you be it grateful for?

And as the love of life shines upon you, you start shining your love back. In fact, it may be that you discover:

LOVE:
In its lower form, it reveals itself as
fear and desire
In its purest form as acceptance
And in its higher form as
Gratefulness

Love,
