Yoga off the mat – Letting go of control

Attempting to control external events will never keep us safe. It doesn't even work.

Control is an illusion, and to some degree we all know this, because if we could control outer circumstances, our life would be perfect right? Or different at least?

However even when we know this, we still try to control everything: how we feel, the things we do, what we do and do not want. Which will result in suffering sooner or later, because it doesn’t work..

What if, for the next few days, we let life live itself through us? Express itself through us, just the way it does?
What if we can stay in our own centre and trust events instead of forcing them?

How do we do that practically?

It sounds simple – but just breathe and let go!

  • If something happens that you don’t like  – don’t try and resist it, especially if you can’t do anything about it. Breathe instead and come back to the present moment.
  • If something happens to you that you like – don’t attach to it either, breathe and come back to the present moment.

This way we stop taking events personally and we can slowly let go of our need to control them and see that events just happen. We can stay in our centre and start trusting that life does what it does, and that it is OK.

With Love
