Light in the shadows

This gentle(ish) class has a physical focus on opening the chest, shoulders & hips and a thematic focus on bringing light into the dark places where emotions hide. When life gives you challenges and emotions come up, it is easy to push them aside, ignore them or even ‘numb’ them with external distractions. In fact, our emotions are important gauges of our current state and should be given room to be free. We begin with a brief meditation and relaxing pose to breathe open the torso then through a few standing poses to help open the hips.Then to the floor for backbends and an inversion with the final relaxation to bring light into the body and let the heart have room to be free. PROPS: Bolster or blanket are helpful. Block for standing poses is helpful.
