Building up to chest opening postures and Urdhva Danurasana

Introducing chest opening postures once we have developed the strength and flexibility of the shoulders. This class can be taken as part of the “Yoga for shoulder health” series, or can be practiced by itself.We open the heart with strengthening lunges to develop the connection with the upper body and hips, taking the practice further to understand the connection of the shoulders and arms in the more advanced practice of Setu Bandasana (bridge posture) and Urdhva Danurasana (upward facing bow). Props like a block between the feet help to stay connected with the floor and allow for a correct alignment of the sacrum and pelvis. This is a strong but gradual class for all levels, except complete beginners.
