Do you want to balance the Yin and Yang energies within you and relieve a clogged-up nose? Then this Yin class is for you. Using Nadi Shodhana and acupressure points to balance and clear the Yin and Yang energies of your body, this practice will calm an active mind, or wake up a drowsy mind, due to two different approaches to this Pranayama technique. Accumulated emotions, tensions and fatigue may also be released, which can be very healing. The left nostril - Ida (Yin) - is connected to the left side of the body and the right brain, governing parasympathetic nervous system (rest-digest). The right nostril - Pingala (Yang) - is connected to the right side of the body and the left brain, governing the sympathetic nervous system (fight-flight). We practice poses that stimulate, open up and release tension in the hips, spine and legs. Stimulating the spine can have a 'releasing' effect so if you feel strong emotions come up, allow them to be expressed. The practice includes meditation, Pranayama and Savasana, and will leave you feel energized, detoxified and relaxed at the same time. Different options are given for each pose, so you can adapt them to your needs. Props: blanket, blocks, bolster, pillow.
