Annamalai Swami [1906-1995] was a direct disciple of Sri Ramana Maharshi, one of the greatest spiritual sages of the twentieth century in India. Through his many years of devotion to Ramana’s spiritual instructions, practising Self-inquiry, he realised his main life goal: the removal of the 'I am the body' idea, whereby he settled completely in the peaceful, contented and immortal Self. This gave him the knowledge of how to perform self-inquiry successfully, making his advice especially valuable to seekers. Those who spent time with Annamalai Swami were deeply impressed by the quality of his teaching, which always clearly and concisely pointed to the ever-present nature of the Self and by the irresistible aura of peace and natural authority he radiated.
The following meditation is based on Annamalai Swami’s spoken words. It is titled – “The Self Alone Is Real". Part 2 will be published on 31st July.
With gratitude to Jayasara Samaneri, who has been the inspiration for this meditation.
