A reasonably challenging class at times but with options to take it easier and do the simpler thing...explore your edge and build up to more challenging postures like Handstand and Tripod Headstand..or not! Also a Phenix style 'dancing warrior' style Sun Salutation!

Movement mish mash

This powerful class is not a yoga practice in the typical sense, but a combination of many movements and actions from ‘functional training’ mobility exercises. It is strong on the knees so take care. It also requires a bit of space for rolling and crawling around.
Starting with rolling the joints and then moving through a wide variety of strength training and mobility exercises, get ready to move and sweat and at the end feel alive with your power.

Warrior adventures

A creative, fun flow taking us into all kinds of adventures. We open up the whole body and take it for strolls under the sky and over rivers, just enough adventure to keep the heart open and the body buzzing with energy. No props required, just an open mind and some forgiveness for my right/left confusion ;)

Slow and Low that is the Tempo

Slow and low, that is the tempo

Slow and low, that is the tempo

Inspired by the 80’s hip hop group Beastie Boys, this deep slow class is perfect after travelling, after a long day of work or even as a morning practice when you just want to keep things low and deep. This class begins with a 5-minute pose with a block on the forehead to help ‘drop the analysing mind’ and get into the feeling realm. Options and instructions are in the video so please feel free to take the block away if it causes any anxiety or restricts your breathing. We then move through some slow, deep hip opening poses that stay low to the ground with looooong slooooooow breathing. We finish by resting over a block to really let go.
* In the video, I said a 'Tribe Called Quest', but they were another amazing hip-hop group… oops!

Bring out the vibrance!

This continuous flow starts and ends gently, but in between gets right down to business! We build strength in the legs, and core work is sprinkled through the sequence. A fun flow with Warrior II pose, Triangle pose and Half Moon pose. Strength work in Dolphin pose for the upper body balances all the leg and core work, leaving you to feel alive and vibrant! No coffee needed!

Power to the Buttocks!

Power to the buttocks!

59:22

Power to the buttocks!

This class focuses on awakening some power in specific areas of the glutes, or buttock muscles, a weak area for me (and many others). We build up into a non-traditional flow, but do some Vinyasas in between so as not to get too buttock-centric. One or two backbends at the end are offered so we can check if the work has made any difference. Some of this class is challenging in terms of balance and endurance, but the postures themselves are not challenging. You'll need a block for one of the exercises.

A courageous flow

Some days we just need to remind ourselves that we have what it takes; that even though we feel discouraged and the work to be done seems immense, we have inside of us a well of power and energy that always supports and sustains us. We move and shake things up and sometimes give a leap of faith. Remember that the pose is not the goal, but the feeling of inner power that lingers after.

It's the journey that counts

A fun class that works up to Visvamitrasana, one of the most challenging arm balances there is. We work on opening the shoulders, legs, hips and side body and of course arm strength! Your body will then be as ready as it will ever be to attempt this beautiful pose. We will try 2 variations and the full pose. Remember its the journey that counts, not the end result :-))

Arm balances for all

I spent many years avoiding these postures, believing myself to be too heavy, too old, too this, too that. And I see many students doing the same. But if we can approach this without ambition, in a spirit of adventure, we start to develop strength and endurance where we need it most: in our hearts and minds.

Cleaning the pipes: twists for physical and energetic health

A vinyasa flow practice that uses physical poses to support digestive and lower back health in the body and conscious breathing to help 'the inner waves' of energy move through. This sequence has several 'waves' of poses that include warm up lunges and gentle twists leading into deeper variations and sequenced postures finishing with an exciting shoulder stand twist. There are variations on the more difficult poses and the class should leave you feeling liberated around the spine and hips.
