Where Vol 1 of the Re-Mix played with the standing poses, this new Vol 2 keeps the standing poses of the Ashtanga method in order and adds lots of twists and alternate variations for the seated poses of the Primary Series! Expect lots of good hip opening and various ways of twisting the spine through the sequence and finish with some backbends and variations to stay aligned in the spine... and with your intentions.

This advanced flow practice to music is a delight for those who like to move a bit slower, get a bit deeper, push a little stronger and lean into the edges. We start with 5 minutes of sitting with an amazing mantra sung by Jai Uttal, and then start to pick up the pace slowly and gradually through Sun Salute variations. Waves of standing poses mixed with hip openers, arm balances, inversions and more… The theme of internal pulsation from contraction to expansion is weaved throughout and reflects the space that David was in on 9th of November, 2016… the day after election day in the USA when he was quite contracted in the heart but still here to record classes! Enjoy the deep long and slow groove with some advanced poses and the balance of contraction and expansion from start to end.

This specific class will mobilise and strengthen your shoulders in preparation for Sirsasana 1, Headstand with your elbows on the floor.  We go through a series of shoulder openings, followed by some strengthening in a balanced way to get the upper body ready.  We then do a handful of standing poses with very specific actions to get the legs ready.  From there, it’s over to the wall for a delicious trick to open the shoulders with a block (you need a friend for this exercise) and finally a few tips for doing the pose at the wall.
