Meditation and Yoga Nidra are a great addition to any asana practice that you may have and are an integral part of yoga. We practice Savasana after an asana practice to allow your body a chance to integrate the work you have done.
A regular meditation and Yoga Nidra practice will allow for a deeper relaxation and an even deeper connection to yourself. Physically, by practicing relaxation you stimulate your nervous and hormonal system and you start to produce less stress inducing hormones and more happy hormones :)
