Myofascial yoga: Balance and mindful self-care
In the final class of Christine's 6-part series, 'Myofascial yoga for stress release', we will review the concept of a mindful, micro movement flow, improve our proprioceptive awareness with a few fun balancing poses, and end with a gentle myofascial self-care process for creating support, ease and rest within the body.Props: 2 small inflatable balls or rolled up socks, blanket, yoga blocks or cushions.
Myofascial yoga: Mindful cardio
This is the fifth class in Christine's 6-part series - Myofascial yoga for stress release. In this sequence you will be invited to put on your favourite music for dancing or upbeat movement and learn how to use the gentle oscillation movements from myofascial release to get your body moving actively while also staying mindful and respectful of your limits. This class will pick up your energy and get your heart rate up, while keeping the energy fun, playful and connected to your body. You will also learn how to incorporate some fun and effective balance movements into your regular yoga or movement practice. Props: bottle or transparent container of water, yoga blocks or something to sit on.
Myofascial yoga: Ease stress-related back pain
This is the fourth class in Christine's 6-part series - Myofascial yoga for stress release. Take a break from your busy schedule to rest and receive deep nourishment in this gentle, mindfulness-based movement practice for improved balance, mobility and stress reduction.Props: 2 or 3 blankets, 2 small inflatable balls or rolled up socks, yoga blocks.
Myofascial yoga: Improving balance and proprioception
This is the third class in Christine's 6-part series - Myofascial yoga for stress release. Did you know that when you are under stress your ability to balance can be reduced? Do you ever feel extra clumsy or stumble more easily when you are going through challenging times? Well, it turns out science has given us a reason for this, and yoga has given us the solution! This sequence will work on improving both balance and proprioceptive awareness.Props: yoga blocks, belt/scarf, uneven surface like a cushion.
Myofascial yoga: Mindful micro movement flow
This is the second in Christine's 6-part series of Myofascial yoga classes for stress release. Mindfulness-based movement has been shown to boost executive function in the brain more than meditation or aerobic exercise. In this sequence we will focus on how to use mindfulness-based movement for reducing stress as well as anchoring into the ongoing resource of the breath and grounding presence of the earth.Props: yoga blocks or cushions.
Myofascial yoga: Release shoulder tension
This is the first class in a 6-part series of Myofascial yoga for stress release. During times of stress it's common to carry tension in the shoulders and upper back. Join Christine for a gentle, stress-relieving movement sequence and some self-care strategies for tending to tight shoulders or neck tension.
