Balancing on your arms can be a positive and empowering practice! Or sometimes the opposite… This class starts with a warming up of the shoulders followed by sun salutations and standing poses to prepare the hips and core for a series of arm balances (Eka Pada Koundinyasana, Bakasana, Parsva Bakasana, Titibasana, Mayurasana). The arm balances are taught in step by step ways to support the positive part of practicing them and hopefully avoiding the physical and emotional ‘falling on your face’ that happens when we can’t do something right away. After the arm balances, the cool down has some nice shoulder stretches to release any built up tension.
