In this first class of the Pilates 101 program, we start with the most fundamental work of Pilates: the breathing technique. Pilates uses a specific style of breathing in order to maximize the success of the more physically demanding exercises. There is no one correct way to breathe, but this style of breathing will support you as you do more core work. Props: We'll use a thin block to raise the head a little when lying down. A cushion or folded blanket works fine instead if you don't have one.
