From stimulation to relaxation
We lead our lives in a heightened state of stimulation, and because we are so familiar with this state and it makes us feel ‘useful’ and ‘productive,’ we seek more of the same. But we can only sustain this for so long; at some point we need to balance out the busyness, or we risk burning ourselves out.
Healing can only happen in a state of rest. When we do practices that encourage vital energy or ‘chi’ to circulate through the body, this free flow of energy can eventually learn to settle. This in turn activates the parasympathetic nervous system - the place where all of the repairing, healing and growing takes place. Read What is Chi? for more about this vital energy and how we can tune into it.
About these classes
These practices will teach you how to access your vital energy from a relaxed state - your natural state of rest. From this inner stillness, you’ll experience how much easier it is to open into presence and feel deeply and fully grounded and alive!
We suggest that you practice 3 classes a week, perhaps repeating classes you find particularly helpful. There are short classes - like the Qigong arm swing - that are perfect to do in the morning or during the day to combat ‘desk hunch’ - and longer practices that are nice to do at the end of the day. Pick and choose to suit your schedule.
