Whenever you have done yoga where the wrists are challanged (arm balances, handstands or downward dogs), you can do this short massage for the wrists. Nice at any time of the day and especially good if you work in an office, at a keyboard or if you have RSI or CANS (complaints of the arm, neck and shoulder). You need a partner to do this with. The great thing is that you will both give and receive. Enjoy!

In this class we make the first step into the Solar branch of AcroYoga: Front Bird. The difference between AcroYoga therapeutics (Lunar) and acrobatics (Solar), is that in the Lunar practice the flyer gets to fully receive, and in the Solar practice the flyer is also active, so it’s a more energising and strengthening. This first acrobatic pose is also sometimes called ‘Airplane'. To do it well and safely, make   sure you work with a spotter who will keep you from falling. Keep trying a few times until you find your balance! Have fun!

In the Circus workshop we co-operate to build a family pyramid. The AcroYoga Circus elements are based on tricks that look really impressive, but are not so hard to learn. This is a very playful workshop focus on balance, body tension, and how to carry seemingly large weights using technique instead of mere power. For this workshop you need a chair or an extra participant. This is the fourth of a structured series of workshops. In order to do a Handstand it is very helpful to have awareness of how to align three important areas of your body: your wrists and arms, shoulders and your core. Just like when you are building a house in a steady way, you need to start with the foundations, and then build the rest on top of that. When doing Handstands, the foundation is the wrists (hands) and then the arms, and then we build on top of that the shoulders and then the spine. The legs are the last to follow. When you are able to do a Tripod Headstand free in the room, you are ready for this handstand class. This class focusses on awareness of the core engagement and the right alignment in Handstand with the help of a partner. We start with a few simple preparation exercises on the mat, we continue with partner exercises that help you to understand more how to use the core in a Handstand and we finish in a Handstand with the support of a partner.

In the third workshop we focus on learning about Qi (pronounced ‘Chi’). In Chinese philosophy Qi is the circulating dynamic energy inherent in all living things. According to this belief Chi unifies our body, mind and spirit. During the workshop we create a fine AcroYoga ‘Chi Machine’ to stimulate lots of positive energy as we playfully learn about relaxing, letting go, meditation and softness. This workshop is the third of a structured series. The ‘Animal’ workshop is designed to stimulate creativity, playfulness and self-expression, so participants can discover their favorite inner animal. During the workshop we use Yoga and AcroYoga to play with various animal postures and movements. On a physical level we work on developing balance. We also carefully explore back-bend techniques as we learn to work together and listen to each other and develop trusting relaxed interaction.    •        Preparations: If you do this workshop with a small child, or if your hamstrings are a bit stiff, keep two yoga blocks handy. This workshop is the first of a structured series. I recommend starting here and watching the videos in sequence as each workshop gradually builds upon the previous one: AcroYoga blends the spiritual wisdom of Yoga, the loving kindness of Thai Massage, and the dynamic power of Acrobatics. In the ‘Superheroes' Parents & Kids workshop we learn in a playful way to 'fly professionally', develop teamwork and trust each other. You will also discover your hidden inner superpowers! The aim of the workshop is to create a setting for parents and kids to explore and experience something exciting and new. Physically the goal is to work on body tension for the child and for the parent to learn the acrobatic technique of ‘stacking bones’; i.e. to use the alignment of our legs and arms straight above our bodies in order to hold someone up, instead using the force of our muscles.  •        For: This workshop is suitable for kids between 6-12 years old and grown-ups/older siblings/friends. •       Younger kids can do all the exercises too but the workshop might be slightly too long, I recommend therefore to break the workshop up into 2 parts or just see how far you get. •        Parents/ adults joining in, please read the guidelines first. When you are able to do a tripod headstand free in the room, you are ready for this handstand class. This class focusses on awareness wrists and arms in the handstand with the help of a partner. We start with a few simple arm & wrists preparation exercises on the mat, we continue with partner exercises that help you to understand more how to use the wrists in a handstand and we finish in a handstand with the support of your partner.

Together with a partner you can learn safely to do the Tripod headstand freely in the middle of the room, with different leg variations. This short class is a good preparation to get familiar with inversions and the first step before going into Handstands. A partner is there to make sure you can practice safely and as well he/she can coach you to bring more awareness in the pose.

In this class we take some steps deeper into the Forward Therapeutic Flying. This Lunar Practice is a beautiful way to connect with a partner, to exchange therapeutic practices for the body, to restore after a challenging time and / or to cultivate trust and surrender. The class is the next step after AcroYoga Forward Flying Basics, it is recommended to all the steps in the basics class before this.

A fun asana partner flow, to warm up the body and connect with yourself and your partner. The parts of the body that will be warmed up, are also those that we need to use in the basic flying postures; opening the shoulders, opening the hamstrings. This can be a sufficient preparation for Flying, as we offer in the other Acro Yoga classes, specifically for the Lunar style.

In this back flying class, you learn one variation of back flying, called High Flying Whale. This pose is an accessible first step into back flying. In the class you will do partner stretches and poses to warm up the back. Then you learn the flying poses High Flying Whale, half Camel, and how to do them safely with a third person who is spotting.

In this introduction to AcroYoga you touch upon all the basic elements that AcroYoga offers; PartnerYoga, Thai Massage and acrobatic elements. After some stepping stones, you learn the first forward flying poses, and how to do them safely, working with a third person who is spotting. If you want to do more AcroYoga classes it is strongly advised to practice this class first.
